Photographers Wanted for Exposure!

EXPOSURE! is an international search for inspired photography dedicated to exposing emerging talent from around the world.

One Grand Prize winner will be awarded a Manhattan gallery reception, international publicity and their choice of $10,000 cash or 1 year living rent free in a $1.2 million dollar apartment provided by The Edge in New York City.

The panel of judges includes Photographer Lauren Greenfield, New York Times Photo Editor Maura Foley, MoMA Curator Nora Lawrence and JPG Founders Derek Powazek & Heather Powazek Champ.

The public will also cast their vote and the highest rated portfolio will receive the People’s Choice Award.

Deadline for entries is May 28, 2010.

UCDA Design Competition opens!

The UCDA Design Competition recognizes the best of the exceptional design work done to promote educational institutions (secondary, vocational, or higher education).

The UCDA Design Competition for 2010 is now underway.

UCDA is looking for your biggest and best ideas for the annual design competition – whether it be print, electronic, green, and even student work.

This year’s show will be on display at the 40th Annual UCDA Design Conference, October 2-5, 2010 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Deadline for entries is July 9, 2010.

LG looking for retail design head !

LG India is looking for Design Head- Retail Experience for their Greater Noida Corporate office. The Job description and preferred candidate profile is as follows

Candidate Profile

1. Furniture/Product Design graduate with relevant experience of 8-10 years in Retail industry (store formats, Layouts, Fixture Design).
2. Deep understanding of Indian Retail scenario as well as awareness of global trends. Should be able to translate global trends to meet Indian consumer needs.
3. Good leadership qualities. Should be a team player and excellent communicator.
4. Exposed to multi vendor collaboration projects. Should be able to manage and develop world class vendors for quality execution.
5. A deep understanding of materials and process is must.
6. A knack for research and trend hunting is highly appreciated. Should have understanding of research methods and Experience Design.

Pentawards 2010 packaging contest open!

Pentawards 2010 is now open for entries until May 21, 2010.

Packaging designers, brand owners, packaging suppliers from the world over are invited to enter their best creations in 44 categories divided into 5 major sectors: Food, Beverages, Body, Other Markets, and Luxury.

An international jury composed of 12 professionals from packaging design and its chairman will bestow the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Pentawards. The best of the show will be crowned with the prestigious and unique Diamond Pentaward.

Namit Bisht, Gopal Pai and Abhilash Suchindran make a movie on truckers lives!

As a part of their systems project, Namit Bisht, Gopal Pai and Abhilash Suchindran decided to look into a trucker’s life. In order to understand the scenario on the road first hand, they decided to travel on different trucks on long distance routes. Namit took an overnight trip on a Eicher 10.59 truck from Ahmedabad to Mumbai and Abhilash and Gopalkrishna travelled on a Tata 2515 and an Ashok Leyland 3516 between Mumbai and Bangalore. They covered a total distance of around 2050 kms over this trip.

Their interesting journey culminated in a wonderful short film. Take a look!

Srishti Labs needs innovation specialists

a.. Srishti Labs is a new initiative of Srishti School of Art, Design & Technology, to focus on early-phase innovation through a combination of user & business research and design exploration.
b.. We are looking for innovation specialists in a doer-manager role, having hands-on experience with multidisciplinary innovation and also capable of managing such work with external partners. The candidate should believe that better work is done through collaboration and be able to lead and inspire diverse teams through collaboration and respectful influence, not control, as well as direction, vision and planning. Successful candidates must know what excellence is. They not only identify and evangelize best practices, but also are able to push new boundaries and explore new territory in order to deliver innovation.
c.. Formal education in any of the design fields such as industrial design, business design, visual design, interaction design, UX design andhuman factors engineering is a must. Additional formal education or on-the-job experience in ethnographic methods, user research methods is a plus.
